A MULTIMEDIA CREATOR

Kassandra Alvarez
Kassandra Alvarez is a Mexican immigrant from Sonora, raised in Phoenix, Arizona. A multimedia storyteller, filmmaker, photographer, and communications strategist, Kassandra documents social justice movements and her advocacy work for immigrant rights, education, and climate justice.
At 15-years-old, Kassandra began working in social justice by fighting for her right to education as an undocumented student. With boots-on-the-ground, she has contributed to immigration and human rights organizations such as the Arizona Dream Act Coalition, Movimiento Cosecha, Puente AZ, One Arizona, and local and national campaigns through photography, filmmaking, media, and communications.
Her origins as a news reporter in Las Cruces, New Mexico, started with her dream to tell stories but later switched gears to represent the underrepresented communities by giving a voice and a face through art and film. For more than 8-years now, she has been involved in creative projects, developing concepts, and creating productions to demarginalize her community.
More recently, Kassandra has worked closely with Mango Skies Productions, producing, directing, and as director of photography for environmental justice films.
Kassandra Alvarez also serves as the Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator at South Mountain Community College located in South Phoenix.
Quote,
"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forg otten everything."
